Learning Module 3: Marketing the fund & Sales Process
Required: Review “Ditch the Pitch” framework by Steve Yastrow.
Required: Watch Videos Below: Part I and Part II
Optional: If you haven’t been exposed to sales before, or you want new ideas, or a refresher - these are the books that have been the most impactful for me personally. There are tons of books out there, but these are some of the best from my perspective, broken down into a few different categories, in no particular order:
Sales Tactics: “Ditch the Pitch”. Yastrow, Steve. His approach is pure gold. And needed in the world of investments where the pitch is most decidedly dead.
Dealing with People: “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” Carnegie, Dale. First published in early 20th c., this book is still without peer when it comes to working with others successfully.
Science of Why People Do what they Do: “Influence: the Psychology of Persuasion.” Cialdini, Robert. ** WARNING ** The concepts in this book are super powerful and must be wielded ethically and morally. Remember the Prairie Hill Fundamentals (see Module 4 below).
Effective Daily Productivity. “Atomic Habits”. Clear, James. Instead of sole focus on long term goals… focus on the daily habits that will produce the long term results! That is what this book is all about. “Tricking” your body and mind to do the hard things needed to get what you want.
Mindset: “Think and Grow Rich”. Hill, Napoleon. In sales, you get a lot of rejection. If you don’t have a strong mindset, it can be difficult to press on and be successful. “Entrepreneurial Thinking” is required. This book has been life changing for a lot of people.
Marketing the Fund Part II is currently under construction (needs to be updated for May 2024).
